SCHOOL-WIDE EMERGENCY
|
In preparation for a potential school-wide emergency, monthly fire drills and earthquake drills are conducted. In case of an actual emergency, children will be kept on school premises or if situation is deemed unsafe, students will be evacuated to Franklin Elementary, 1115 West 300 South. The school will contact families using information available on student registration card.
|
ILLNESS AND EMERGENCIES |
There are no provisions for caring for sick children at school. If your child is vomiting, has a fever, diarrhea or other highly contagious disease, keep your child home. Most cold symptoms are not severe enough to miss school. In the event your child becomes ill or hurt at school, you or the person listed on the student registration card, will be notified as soon as possible. For this reason, it is extremely important to supply the school with correct telephone numbers and addresses at all times.

VIP PANDEMIC PLAN |
In the event of a flu pandemic, VIP proposes the following actions:
- To determine whether to close school, VIP would follow the example of University of Utah or obey the mandates of the Utah State Department of Health.
- In order to close school, the professional staff of VIP would be responsible for contacting each student and tutor by phone and/or e-mail. Each ESL Specialist would be responsible for contacting his/her own tutors and students. The Program Director would contact her students and tutors as well as all support staff.
- During the closure period, staff could choose (should circumstances permit) to come to work in the office on curriculum design and professional development.
- Currently, no funder requires that school days need to be made up. Stakeholders would be informed of an unplanned cancellation.
